Happy 2010!

It's been awhile since we last posted! We've been busy enjoying the holidays and tying up loose ends around the house. I've had two weeks off and have enjoyed every second. The first few days of the break were spent enjoying our big snow, painting & hanging cabinets, and cleaning & organizing like crazy. The snow was gorgeous, and gave us (basically) a White Christmas.

Real icicles formed on our icicle lights...

It really made it feel like winter! The day after the season officially changed, we also celebrated Stephen's birthday by adding a furry new member to our family. Meet Boston:

Boston is a sweet, fuzzy, silly kitten, and we've already grown to love him! He's lots of fun, but loves to cuddle up on the couch with us, too. Isn't he adorable??

Boston LOVES the Christmas tree (surprise, surprise). We had to make sure all of the breakable ornaments were moved closer to the top! Speaking of the Christmas tree, here it is in our living room:

The room isn't finished, but it is getting close! We still need to hang art on the sofa wall (the pictures we're going to hang are leaning against the wall by the fireplace and against the coffee table).

We also haven't painted the fireplace (it's still the color of the walls before we painted them... pretty close to our color, huh? Unfortunately, everything downstairs that wasn't Duke blue was painted that gray color. The color we painted the walls is more of a taupe). Once we decide what we want to do with the fireplace (white? black? wall color? something else?), we just need to figure out what to do with the french doors, which you can see below. This photo was after we painted, but before we had done much of anything else.

This pic. is what the room looked like when we took our first tour of the house.

We painted the walls and trim, hung blinds, then got started on the floors. Here is an in-progress shot of the bamboo being installed.

After some rearranging and accessorizing, here's where we are today! Time to hang some art.

We hope you had a wonderful Christmas and that 2010 is off to a fabulous start for you!
